You've chosen your photographer. The deposit has been paid & the date is on the calendar. Now, what to wear? Coordinating outfits don't have to be stressful. I'm here to help! The first thing I always suggest is to consider the color schemes in your home. Knowing that your images will soon be displayed on your walls, think about how they will look when incorporated into the décor of your living spaces. Is your home monochromatic with neutral tones? Or is it rich with color? Even if you get stuck here, going with something neutral is always a win. Mommas, we are SO hard on ourselves! Start with your outfit. Choose something that you feel great in! If you have any problem areas pay close attention when picking out something that's the most flattering. Even try different standing & sitting positions to make sure! You see mom here in a navy jumpsuit. It is super flattering & looks great with the patterns she chose for her family. From head to toe, these two sisters are perfectly coordinated in Janie & Jack pieces. I love that they are not matching exactly but that the patterns are inverted. Mom chose a dress for older sister with the cutest velvet navy sneakers. And for little sister, the coordinating patterned pants & peplum top polished off with navy mary janes. Finishing up with brother & dad, we have them in coordinating blue shirts with small patterns that don't compete with each other, or sisters, & aren't too busy. As for bottoms, they're both in dark denim to balance all the navy. When thinking about patterns you want to consider all the different groupings that you will be taking at your photo session. For example, mom & dad together, siblings together, dad with kids, mom with kids & the whole group. This helps you avoid clashing colors & pattern combinations. There really are so many options & varieties for styling your family photo session. You can even shop your own closets! The best thing to remember is that while outfit choices make for a nice cohesive look in your photos, it's really all about capturing the moments together, documenting your growing family's connections & milestones that make for the best photos!
